Abducted sarpanch, another person killed by Naxals
Hyderabad, May 20 (UNI) CPI (Maoist) Naxals today killed a village panchayat sarpanch and another person belonging to the Scheduled Tribe community, whom they had abducted yesterday from Kuralpalli village in Khammam district, about 300 km away from the city.
Police said they received information that the naxals killed Kurlapalli village sarpanch K Narasaiah and S Kanaiah.
The motive for the crime have yet to be ascertained.
Police suspect that Maoists from Chhattisgarh might be behind the incident. Combing operations have been intensified on the Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border followng the incident.
