2.3 quintal of synthetic khoya seized in Barara

Ambala, May 20 (UNI) About 2.25 quintals of synthetic khoya was seized today from the possession of shopkeepers of Sub division Barara in this district.

An official spokesman said that on a tip off that one Karnail Singh of village Patrehri was supplying adulterated khoya to various sweet shops, a special team of officials conducted raids on various shops and recovered synthetic khoya as well as sweets made from it.

He said that they also nabbed Karnail Singh and on the information provided by him, the team conducted more raids on other sweet shops in the adjoining towns of Nohani, Kaalpi and Mullana and recovered a large quantity of sweets made from the fake khoya supplied by him.

The the supplier as well as the owners of the sweet shops selling synthetic khoya have been arrested and a case had been registered against them in Mullana Police Station, he said.
