2 Dead, several injured in bomb blast in Malda

Malda, May 20 (UNI) Two people were killed and several injured in a blast that occurred in the district's Chaksherdi area under Baisnabnagar police station late last night.

Villagers today alleged that they were Congress party supporters and were making bombs in a godown in the area. Reportedly, those killed and injured had long been involved in petty thefts, bank robbery and smuggling.

Among the injured, one was stated to be critical and had been admitted to the Malda district Sadar Hospital.

Inspector in-Charge of police Anil Ray said that investigation was on and that the injured, who had been admitted to the hospital, had already been taken into custody.
