Wellington, May 19 : The house where Peter Jackson filmed his 1996 film 'The Frighteners' starring Michael J Fox is up for sale.

The 493 square metre, five- bedroom home was built in 1982.

It was designed to authentic Georgian proportions and dimensions, and sits on a 2043 square metre section adjoining farmland in Richmond Ave.

It has a marble-floored foyer leading to a sweeping rimu staircase, a music- media room, formal living and dining rooms, a library-gallery, three-metre high plaster ceilings, chandeliers, a gym, a cellar and a five-car garage.

And, it's receiving a lot of interest despite a softening market, said real estate agent Della Randall.

In fact, offers for it are expected to go past the 680,000 dollars government valuation when tenders close on Thursday.

"It is in the upper tier of house prices; we expect it will sell well above the GV," The Dominion Post quoted her, as saying.

"We have found the upper-tier market quite buoyant compared with the mid-market. People in the upper bracket are not adversely affected by market conditions."

She added that it's not only the locals that are interested in the Kapiti property.

"We were never expecting queues of people, but it has attracted a handful, mainly from offshore; people used to more formal living," she said.

"The previous owners have all been couples. Even though it is a huge house it still has a nice feeling of intimacy for couples."
