Rahul rebukes BJP's allegation on terrorism
Bidar, May 18 (UNI) AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today rebuked the BJP's allegation that the Congress was adopting a soft approach and was not serious about curbing terrorism in the country.
Addressing an election meeting here, he reiterated that the Congress was committed to check terrorism and recalled that the party had sacrificed two Prime Ministers and several other senior leaders in fighting terrorism.
Mr Gandhi alleged that when there were terrorists attacks in the BJP ruled states, the party did not speak about it. The terrorists attacked Akshradam Temple in Ahmedabad in Gujarat and now serial blasts occurred in Jaipur, which are being ruled by the BJP.
''When they could not contain terrorist activities in the state they were ruling, how can they curb the terrorist activists in Karnataka,'' he asked.
He said development and progress in Karnataka had been derailed because of the failed coalition between the JD(S)-BJP. ''The internal tussles between the BJP and the JD(S) led to the downfall of the government which led to the midterm poll, he added.
He charged that the BJP was trying to divide the country by spreading communalism and appealed to the people to reject the safron party.
If development were to be achieved, a stable government was a must, Mr Gandhi said.
