Party ready to take extreme steps again: TRS chief
Hyderabad, May 18 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president and former Union Minister K Chandrasekahra Rao today said the party was ready to take even extreme steps, including resignation of the party's MLAs and MPs from their posts again in the future as part of its struggle for statehood to Telangana.
Participating in a 'meet-the-press' programme, organised by the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) here, Mr Rao said the party had taken the dicision of resignation of its 16 MLAs and four MPs after the UPA failed to grant statehood for Telangana.
The resignation of the MPs and MLAs had exposed the ruling Congress 'deceived politics,' he said.
Alleging that 'anti Telangana' forces, including the Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were enemies to the TRS and the Telangana people, he said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekahra Reddy was obstructing the Centre from taking a positive decision on the issue.
To a question, he said he was ready to visit Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and other non-Telangana areas to get support from the people on the issue if necessary.
He also alleged that road shows, organised by Mr Reddy and TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu, as part of the by-election campaign, were receiving poor response from the people in the Telangana region.
