Nitish announces rainbow revolution in Bihar
Patna, May 18 (UNI) Outlining his commitment for further development of Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced to implement rainbow revolution worth Rs 6135 crore in the next five years in the state.
Kicking off the agricultural road map during speedy seed distribution programme here, Mr Kumar said Bihar lagged behind in the green revolution but instead of white, green, blue, yellow and brown revolutions it would have rainbow revolution under which all sectors related to agriculture like horticulture, fishery, floriculture, poultry, dairy, animal husbandry and others would be developed.
Announcing the five-year time frame for implementation of the rainbow revolution, Mr Kumar said Rs 3757 crore had been earmarked for development of agriculture, Rs 879 crore for animal husbandry, Rs 471 crore for dairy, Rs 676 crore for fishery and Rs 411 crore for cooperatives.
Rainbow revolution was being implemented through seeds which was the base for development of all related sectors of farming, he said after distributing the superior quality of paddy seeds among the selected farmers of the villages of this district.
''Beej gram'' would automatically be stabilised with the high yielding variety of seeds distributed among the farmers, he said adding that the selected farmers after cultivation would distribute the superior qaulity of seeds from their yield to their co-villagers.
The Chief Minister maintained that the seed distribution programme would bring ''seed revolution'' within three to four years and would boost the production and in turn the financial condition of the farmers and the state as well.
For imparting technical know how of the farming with better yield with the superior quality of seeds, Mr Kumar said apart from this, a special mechanism had been evolved for solving the problems of the farmers in the villages.
