Nagaland govt selected for UN Public Service award
Kohima, May 18 (UNI) The Nagaland government has been selected to receive the United Nations Public Service Awards for its programme of communitisation of public institutions and services under the category of 'Fostering participation in policy making decisions through innovate mechanism'.
A release issued here today by Press Secretary to the Chief Minister Abu Metha stated that under this category, the Nagaland government was the only award winner in the Asia Pacific region and it was one amongst twelve awards selected globally in different areas of public service.
He said that representatives of the Nagaland government would receive the award at the United Nations Public Service Day to be celebrated in New York on June 23.
Meanwhile, former Nagaland Chief Secretary and present Secretary, Union Ministry of Steel, R S Pandey said the guidance and leadership provided by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was very important at all stages of the communitisation programme, the release added.
