Bainsla rejects Raj govt's Gujjar Package
Jaipur, May 18 (UNI) The Gujjar Resercation Action Committee today rejected the Rajasthan Government's Gujjar package, saying that nothing short of ST status was acceptable to the community.
Committee convener Col Kirodi Singh Bainsla said the community would give a deadline of May 22 to the State Government to take action on their demand.
He said if the demand of ST status was not met, the committee would launch ''Rail Roko'' agitation in Bayana here from May 23.
The State Government, yesterday, granted a sum of Rs 282 crore as Special Development package for five districts of the state, where the Gujjar community is living in most backward conditions.
The package has been granted by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on recommendation of the four-member committee headed by Sitting MP and BJP Treasurer Ramdas Agrawal.
The committee, comprising Food and Civil Supply Minister Ghanshyam Tiwari, Industries Minister Digamber Singh and Welfare Minister Madan Dilawar, besides Mr Agrawal, in the first phase has recommended package for five districts of Alwar, Sawai Madhopur, Kaurali, Dholpur and Jhalawar, where about nine to ten lakh of total 25 lakh Gujjar population of the state lives.
