All eligible persons being given pension in AP: YSR
Hyderabad, May 18 (UNI)Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government was distributing pensions to all eligible white ration card holders.
He said the government was distributing a pension of Rs 200 each to 50 lakh people costing Rs 1,500 crore for the exchequer.
Another 15 lakh people will get pensions after the bypolls in the State, an official release quoting Dr Reddy said.
He charged the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Government with giving a pension of Rs 75 for every three months to 30 persons in each village.
The TDP Government had given pensions to 10 lakh people during its nine-year rule by spending Rs 50 crore a year, he claimed.
Refuting corruption charges made by the TDP on distribution of pensions, he said the government was ready for an open debate on the issue.
