Nitish directs to complete flood fighting schemes
Patna, May 17 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today directed the officers and engineers concerned to complete the flood control measures and strengthen the embankments along the rivers in North Bihar within stipulated time.
Reviewing the progress of work at a high-level meeting here, Mr Kumar said all schemes to check the effect of flood fury must be completed before the onset of the monsoon at any cost.
''We will simplify the procedure for clearance of the flood fighting schemes to accelerate its implementation and save the people from the suffering caused by natural calamity'', he said, adding a calendar giving schedule for clearance of all such projects should also be prepared for its completion within the time-frame.
Mr Kumar said additional precautionary measures should also be taken to contain the flood fury in Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Bagaha keeping the past trouble some experience in the area, under consideration.
