''Missing'' of Congress candidate's file to be probed
Phagwara, May 17 (UNI) After protests by Congressmen, Phagwara SDM cum Sub Divisional Electoral Officer Amarjit Pal has appointed Phagwara Tehsildar Amanpal Singh as Enquiry Officer to look into the complaint of Congress activist and Panchayat candidate Sohan Lal of village Jagpalpur who alleged that his file of nomination Papers had gone missing.
A deputation of several Congressmen met Phagwara SDM today and alleged that Sohan Lal had submitted his file before Returning Officer, but the file could not be traced till late last night.
Earlier, hundreds of Congressmen led by party leader Nirmal Singh Ranipur held noisy demonstration against Returning officer Sukhdip Singh Horiculture Officer Phagwara, late last night.
They alleged that Sohan Lal along with other candidates had filed his nomination, but due to huge rush, RO Sukhdip Singh asked him to get receipt afterwards.
However, after a long wait when he approached the RO last night saying he had not received any receipt, the RO told him that his file was not listed among other 162 files received by him.
Following this, agitated Congressmen started raising slogans and holding protests in against the RO.
