Governor greets people on Buddha Pournima

Mumbai, May 17 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir passed on his greetings for people in the state on the occasion of Buddha Pournima, which is to be celebrated on Monday.

Mr Jamir, in his message today said that Bhagwan Buddha espoused a new philosophy which gave primacy to love, compassion and non-violence, a release issued here stated. He showed humanity and path of virtuous living through englightenment. Mahatma Gandhi was deeply influenced by Lord Buddha's teachings and had struggled for independence on the basis of non-violence as, the release said.

The teachings of 'Bhagwan Buddha' have the power to transform our lives and usher peace in our midst. Let us all rededicate ourselves to follow his teachings to the best of our ability.

Mr Jamir conveyed his heartiest greetings and good wishes for the auspicious occasion, the release added.
