Evening showers provide respite from hot weather

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) Sharp showers accompanied by strong winds in the evening provided relief to Delhiites from the day-long sultry and hot weather conditions here even as the maximum temperature rose by another degree during the day.

Though for a short period the rainfall provided some relief from the sweltering heat during the day when maximum temperature rose by more than a degree, as compared to yesterday, to 41.8 degrees celsius.

With humidity reducing by 12 per cent from yesterday's 73 per cent, Delhiites faced another hot day with temperature rising more than a degree above the normal.

While the minimum temperature was 27.6 degrees, one more than normal, the minimum humidity remained nearly the same as yesterday.

Predicting a partly cloudy sky with possibility of dust storm or thunderstorm, the weatherman said the maximum temperature in the next 24 hours is likely to stay at around 41 degrees.

However, it added that scattered dust or thunder storm, prevailing for next 2-3 days from Monday onwards, is likely to provide relief from high temperature.
