Let us revive puppetry through Indian epics

Bhopal, May 15, 2008: Epics like Ramayana are being used in Bhopal in an attempt to revive puppet shows, a traditional and popular form of entertainment.

Puppetry which was once meant for narrating the Indian epics and other moral stories is now used for spreading social awareness including peace, religious tolerance, and importance of family planning, AIDS awareness, health concerns and education in the rural areas of India to rural folks, who mostly are illiterate or semi-literate.
