Second phase polling ends peacefully
Shimoga, May 16 (UNI) Election to the second phase for the seven Assembly segments including one reserved was peaceful except some minor incidents today.
Average voting in the district was around 56 per cent, the officials said.
Shikaripur, where two former Chief Ministers- B S Yeddyurappa and S Bangarappa are fighting each other, recorded a highest turn out with 71 per cent in the district.
Thousands of people complained of missing their names from the voters lists.
The turn was followed by Shimoga Rural (Reserved)-58 per cent, Shimoga Urban-45 per cent, Sagar-66 per cent, Theertahalli-55, Sorab-56, and Bhadravati-53 per cent.
