RJD spokesperson arrested in cheating case
Mumbai, May 16 (UNI) Maharashtra Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) spokesperson Thakur Manoj Singh was today arrested by the city police in a ''cheating case''.
According to Senior Inspector Sunil Deshmukh of Matunga police station, an aspiring student of Master of Business Administration (MBA) Vijay Shah had, last year, approached Singh for an admission to MBA course through management quota.
Singh had promised that he would secure him an admission in a reputed city-based college and took Rs 5.50 lakh from Mr Shah for the same, but failed to get the admission, Mr Deshmukh said.
Even after repeated requests to retun the amount, Singh did not return it. So, Mr Shah then lodged a complaint against him with the police station.
Singh was arrested this morning under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. He was later produced in a local court, which has remanded him to police custody till May 20, Mr Deshmukh added.
