Tripura: Railway link to Tripura cut off

Agartala, May 16: The Railway link between Tripura and the rest of the country has been suspended for an indefinite period following the repeated insurgent attacks on trains carrying petrol in the Lumding-Badarpur hills section.

Northeast Frontier Railway officials said here today the railway services had been discontinued since May 12 following the killing of railway staff while the authorities announced total suspension of services after suspected Black Widow militants gunned down 11 people in two separate incidents in North Cachar Hills of Assam yesterday.

The rail service suspension has led to a crisis in transportation of essential goods in Tripura.
