Prices will moderate in four weeks : Congress
New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) Despite the headline inflation surging to 7.83 per cent from 7.61 per cent, the Congress today maintained that it would require three to four weeks for moderation of prices.
AICC Spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told mediapersons that the rate of inflation released today pertained to the week ended May 3. The prices of food articles and vegetables had started decreasing since the last week.
He said the Finance Bill was passed by Parliament on April 30 and its effect would be felt soon.
Mr Ahmed said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram had already listed out the serious efforts being made by the government to bring down spiralling prices.
