Mayawati is afraid of Rahul : Congress

New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) Denouncing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for her continuing barbs against AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, the Congress today said her outbursts betrayed her fear for the young leader who seeks to see India from close quarters.

"Why is it that she (Ms Mayawati) is afraid of Mr Gandhi. She seems to be frightened," AICC Spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told mediapersons, while referring to her frequent attacks on the scion of the Nehru-Gandhi family.

He said Ms Mayawati should welcome the efforts of Mr Gandhi to see India from close quarters. His visit to Uttar Pradesh or Chhattisgarh or Orissa should be seen in this context.

Mr Gandhi had been meeting a lot of people, who including party workers, common people, Dalits and tribals, during his visits, he added.
