Friday prayers peaceful at Mecca Masjid

Hyderabad, May 16 (UNI) Friday prayers were conducted peacefully at the historic Mecca Masjid where the terrorists had triggered bomb blasts on May 18 last year, even as the security was tightened around the mosque to prevent any untoward incident.

Additional forces were deployed in the old city, where the mosque is located, since morning. More than ten people were killed in the blasts and police firing after the incident at the mosque last year.

Alerted by the intelligence after the May 13 Jaipur serial blasts, the city police intensified vehicle checkings, frisking and patrolling in the sensitive areas.
