Doc freed after ransom paid to bandits
Morena, MP, May 16 (UNI) A doctor hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad has been freed near the Chambal river by the Ramsahay Gurjar dacoit gang on payment of about Rs 5 lakh.
Police said that Dr Mohammad Ilyas, who specialised in reproduction-linked ailments, was abducted from here by the gang that carries a Rs 25,000-reward and whose members hail from Rajasthan. The gang initially demanded ransom of Rs 20 lakh.
The physician used to come here to treat patients including the bandit. On April 14, the gang members took the doctor with them after saying that their chieftain's health had deteriorated. After the chieftain's treatment, the physician was held hostage and freed two days back.
