BJP running away from real issues-Congress

Bangalore, May 16 (UNI) Congress senior leader K H Srinivas today said that BJP was indulging in diverting the attention of people of the state during the election time by taking up issues like Ram Sethu and terrorism keeping aside local issues.

Speaking to reporters here today that the BJP leaders like Arun Jaitely and Venkaiah Naidu in their campaign were only practicing 'escapism' by not touching the real issues like their coalition relations and main differences with JD(S) for coming out it. Questioning how Ram Sethu could become an issue for the people of the state during this election, he said that the BJP was running away from answering the vital issues concerning the state.

Another leader of the party L Hanumantaiah said that Congress also condemned the violence reported on the eve of the election in some parts of the state.

Alleging that the mining and real estate lobbies were responsible for this violence, he said that they wanted to create a terror among people to discourage them from taking active part in the election process.

In Bellary, former minister and BJP candidate Sriramulu had attacked a Congress worker and this was a first instance in the history of the state where a candidate attack a worker of another party.

He cited the attacks on Congress candidate in Mangalore North constituency and worker in Indi, yesterday.
