Another woman attempts suicide in Kashmir

Srinagar May 16 (UNI) A 40-year-old woman attempted suicide in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, official sources said today.

They said Jawahara Bano consumed some poisonous substance in her Magraypora Nanil house.

She was immediately shifted to hospital, where her condition is stated to be critical.

It was however, not immediately known why she took this extreme step, they said adding police had registered a case against her.

The trend of committing suicide has not come down even after Muslim Ulemas issued a fatwa against it.

They had said the act was unislamic and against the teachings of Prophet Mohammad.
