12 cricket bookies held, money worth Rs 12 lakh recovered
Hyderabad, May 16 (UNI) Special police teams today arrested 12 bookies for betting on IPL Cricket matches and seized Rs 11.70 lakh in cash, 13 cell phones and three televisions from their possession at Proddutur Village in Kadapa District, about 250 km from here.
Police said acting on a credible information, the teams raided a house where the bookies were participating in betting and arrested them.
Cases were booked under Section 420 IPC and 3 and 4 of Gaming Act. Besides, rowdysheets were also opened against all accused.
The 12 were being interrogated to find out their links with cricket bookies operating from other states.
The accused had been participating in betting since the IPL cricket series began.
