Soz meets PM; discusses J
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Saifuddin Soz today informed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the political and security situation in the state following a spurt in infiltration and firing from across the border, sources said.
Prof Soz called on the Prime Minister and also briefed him about the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the wake of coming state Assembly elections, scheduled for September- October this year, they added.
Prof Soz, who is also the Union Water Resources Minister, gave a detailed account of the party affairs in the state.
The sources said the JKPCC chief impressed upon the Prime Minister to resume the dialogue process with the separatist groups, including the moderate Hurriyat Conference, ahead of the Assembly elections.
Reports emanating from Kashmir suggested that several separatist leaders were ready to participate in the polls.
