Selection of BAS officers likely to be cancelled
Patna, May 15 (UNI) Selection of 184 Bihar Administrative Service (BAS) officers is likely to be cancelled after the state vigilance bureau recommended cancellation of the first limited examination -2003, conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).
Additional Advocate General S K Ghosh and Additional Director General(Vigilance) Neelmani informed Patna High Court yesterday that the state vigilance bureau had concluded the investigation into the alleged irregularities and corrupt practices in selection of BAS officers through the first limited examination-2003.
'' The chargesheets had been filed against 104 people, including 92 candidates, 11 officials and one middle man'', they stated.
Earlier, when the result of the examination was published on May 20,2005, many aggrieved candidates moved the high court challenging it.
They had alleged that the strong room in BPSC office, where the answersheets were kept, had been found broken with an intention to manipulate the results to favour a few candidates. The manipulation of the answersheets was easy as they were written with HB pencils, which could be easily erased and re-written, they added.
After hearing petitions filed in this regard, Justice S K Katiar had directed the state government and the vigilance department to file an affidavit cum action taken report in this regard.
