Security forces bust a militant hideout in Poonch

Poonch (J-K), May 15 : Following three infiltrations bids over a space of four days, security forces have uncovered a militant hideout in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch District. Acting on a tip off, police along with army personnel, conducted a search operation in the forests surrounding the district on Wednesday. They seized a sizeable amount of explosives, arms and ammunition.

Three pistols, three pistol magazines, four AK magazines, 145 rounds of AK ammunition were seized along with two kilograms of RDX, ten detonators, three hand grenades and some documents.

"The recovery signifies the presence of militants in the area surrounding Poonch. We received information about a hideout in a forest and deputed a force to the area," said N.H. Shah, Station House Officer (SHO), Poonch.

The discovery of the hideout comes in the wake of the Indian Army accusing Pakistan of violating a ceasefire by firing across the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Kashmir between the two countries. Pakistan has denied the incident.
