Lokayukta sleuths net two govt officials

Bangalore, May 15 (UNI) Lokayukta sleuths today arrested two persons, including a village accountant, when they accepted bribe for showing official favour.

According to an official release here, Subash Narayan Solanki, a first division clerk in the Primary Health Centre of Bijapur Taluk, had demanded Rs 20,000 as a bribe from Ashok Vittal Gaikwad of Bijapur to disburse increment arrears amounting Rs 64,293 to his mother.

After bargaining, the official agreed to accept Rs 5,000. Solanki was caught red handed while accepting the money.

In another incident, Fablin Josepha, a village accountant, was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 500 from Nagaraju of Channapatna taluk to issue a small landholder certificate.

Earlier, he had demanded Rs 1,000 and already accepted Rs 500 from Nagaraju, the release added.
