High Court summons Chief Secretary
Patna, May 15 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed the State Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary of Higher Education department to be present at the court on May 19 to explain the reason behind non- payment of arrears against the revised salary, provident fund and others for a long period.
Justice Navniti Prasad Singh issued the summon notice on a petition filed by Mandev Prasad Shaw and others complaining that arrears of staff of various universities had not been paid since 1982 despite several requests and reminders.
Counsel of the universities contended that the Bihar government had not provided the funds for clearing the admissible dues to its staff, while the counsel of the state government submitted that audit of the expenditure of the fund given to the universities was not being conducted properly.
