6 of family commit suicide

Hardoi, May 15 (UNI) After failing to clear debts, altogether six members of a family committed suicide by consuming poison in Kotwali area here today.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Surendra Verma said Upendra Singh (35), Neelu (32), Mudrit (10), Tobu (6), Mugli (8) and Kallu (4) were found dead in their house at Azam Nagar colony.

Prima-facie, the crime seems to be of a group suicide, he added.

Upendra was a drunkard reeling under heavy debt burden, the ASP informed.

The bodies had been sent for autposy, while further investigation was underway.
