Village decides to opt for consesus candidates

Phagwara, May 14 (UNI) The village Atholi here was untouched by the high-pitched poll campaign as the voters have already reached a consensus to avoid any political confrontation.

They have decided unanimously that Tirth Singh, husband of present Sarpanch Sarabjit Kaur would be next Sarpanch, while Santokh Singh and Paramjit Singh (General Category), Naib Lal and Balwant Singh(SC), will work as Panchayat members.

While confirming the decision of the villagers, Mr Tirth Singh said here that though villagers have made a consensus, the formalities would be completed through regular election process.

The candidated would file nomination papers on May 15 and the winners could be declared elected on May 19, the last date of withdrwal of the noination papers, he said.
