UPA Govt lacks vision in containing inflation: Venkaiah
Gulbarga, May 14 (UNI) Holding Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia responsible for failing to contain the rising inflation, BJP general secretary Venkaiah Naidu today said that UPA Government at the Centre lacked vision.
Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that they had failed to contain the rocketing inflation and soaring prices of essential commodities.
''The actual inflation rate is more than 10 per cent, but they were presenting manipulated statistics on inflation,'' he alleged and added that India is witnessing an unprecedented rise in prices of foodgrains and commodities.
Brushing aside the allegation that price rise was the result of futures trading in foodgrains introduced during the NDA regime he said online trading of essential commodities was set in motion, when foodgrains and other agricultural produce was surplus in the country.
It was introduced to help the farmers to get a remunerative price for their produce. ''Why are they not banning the futures trading now,'' he asked.
The people of Karnataka were fed up of the failed coalition governments, he said and hoped that in this election the voters would give a clear mandate in favour of the BJP.
