Special court rejects Telgi's application
Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) A special CBI court today rejected a double jeopardy application moved by multi-crore fake stamp paper case prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi and others, challenging their conviction by two courts in the same case.
Telgi and others had stated in the application that they were already convicted in the fake stamp case by Bund Garden court, Pune and MCOCA court, Pune, so they cannot be tried for same offence twice.
Rejecting their application, Additional Sessions Judge C K Bhide observed that at the time of trial, the MCOCA court, Pune had considered only relevant facts concerning the case and not in its entirety.
Ms Bhide ordered to impose section 2(d)(e)(f) of strigent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act against him and others.
Telgi and others were brought to Mumbai amidst tight security for the hearing of nine cases registered against him under Indian Penal Code (IPC). They were brought here following non-functioning of video conferencing system.
