Security beefed up at Indo-Nepal border
Gorakhpur, May 14 (UNI) Security heightened at the Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh in wake of serial blasts that hit the pink city of Jaipur last evening.
The bordering districts--Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Sravasti and Balrampur--were the sensitive districts as they have about 305 kilometers of open border, Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB) sources said today.
SSB was maintaining strict vigil at the border, meanwhile, the distance between two check posts had been shrinked and now there was a check post at the distance of four km each, sources added.
Reportedly, HUJI was behind the Jaipur blasts and they might attempt exit to the neighbouring country Nepal. Thus tight security cover had been initiated, besides frisking people at the Indo-Nepal border.
Police patrolling was being maintained at crowded places like markets, bus stations, railway stations and other public places, besides checking hotels and enlisting the people who had stayed there since last week, IG (Gorakhpur Zone) G P Sharma told UNI.
Meanwhile, high alert had been sounded at Gorakhpur railway station, where Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) were ordered to jointly maintain checking and vigil at the station, railway sources said.
Dog squades were also pressed into service to check platforms, parcel house, waiting rooms, reservation hall, ticket counters, passanger hall and near by areas at the railway station, sources added.
