Samba encounter cops awarded
Srinagar, May 14 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police chief has announced Parakram Padak award for two police officials, who were wounded in the Samba encounter on May 11.
A photo journalist of daily Excelsior, Ashok Sodhi, two militants and a couple were among six people killed in the encounter.
An official spokesperson said police chief Kuldeep Khoda announced the awards for Superintendent of Police Mubassir Latifi and Constable Mangal Singh, who sustained injuries during the operation.
He said the decision to award them was taken at a meeting of Police Establishment Board.
Announcing the award, Mr Khoda reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to tackling militancy and protect the lives and properties of the citizens of the state.
