SAD (1920) demands President's rule in Punjab
Jalandhar, May 14 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (1920) has demanded the imposition of President's rule in Punjab in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Party president Ravi Inder Singh, while talking to media persons here today said the terror witnessed in the zila parishad and block samiti polls was an indication of the things to come in the coming days.
''The ruling Akalis had not even spared the leaders and workers of their alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party, what to talk of the commonman,'' he said.
''The submitting of resignations by the BJP ministers was just a drama,'' he said. ''The ministers are more interested in enjoying power than listening the voice of the people,'' he added.
He alleged that the rift between both the alliance partners would widen in future as BJP would not vote for the Akali candidates and vice versa.
Condemning the attack on the mediapersons in Bathinda, he said the incident was a blot on democracy since the people had every right to know and the press must be fearless in reporting.
The party also condemned the bomb blasts in Jaipur and said such unfortunate incidents were aimed at creating the differences between the Muslims and the Hindus.
