One dead, 1 injured as crane crushes autorickshaw

Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) One person was killed and another injured when a crane, used by Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Development Authority (MMRDA) for digging, crashed into a pit crushing an autorickshaw at D N Nagar in suburban Andheri here today.

According to police officials, a crane employed by MMRDA fell into a pit formed for the ongoing Mumbai Metro Rail Project work, crushing an autorickshaw, in which an occupant was killed and another injured this afternoon.

Police said ''it is still to be ascertained whether the deceased was an auto driver or a passenger, as no one has come forward to claim the body.'' Authorities from Cooper Hospital said an unknown dead body was brought to the hospital today. Along with it, a critically injured person was also admitted.
