Moser Baer unveils a 1.2kWp system at Solar Energy Center

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) Moser Baer India Ltd (MBIL) today unveiled country's first High Concentration Photovoltaic demonstration site at Solar Energy Center, Gurgaon.

The site will demonstrate unique high concentration technology panels produced by Moser Baer Photovoltaic Limited (MBPVL), a wholly owned subsidiary of MBIL. It will have an installed capacity of 1.2 kWp.

The high concentration panels (HCPV) concentrates the Sun's radiation on the receiver by about 500 times using a small fraction of the active material used by an equivalent multi-crystalline silicon panel.

The design has low temperature coefficient of efficiency that makes it suitable for climates having high direct radiation and temperature. The reliability and durability of the module has been built in the design by using time-tested materials and no active element is exposed to atmosphere.

The Solar Energy Centre where the panels have been installed encourages research in the field of solar energy technology as a viable alternative energy option. The centre itself is built utilizing principles of passive solar design to reduce the energy consumption of the building.
