High alert in Jammu after Jaipur serial blasts
Jammu, May 14: In wake of the serial blasts in Jaipur, high alert has been sounded in the Winter Capital of Jammu and Kashmir, and the entire region thrown under thick security blanket.
Although, security was already tight in the 'City of Temples' and its outskirts after the Samba encounter, the Jaipur incident has further intensified it.
''The city was already under tight security cover, but after Jaipur blasts, we need to be more watchful. Special instructions have been issued in the entire region and extraordinary measures are being taken by the security agencies, who are acting more vigilantly,'' Farooq Khan, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Jammu-Kathua Range told UNI.
''Additional troops have been deployed across the city and special nakkas laid down to keep surveillance on the suspicious movements,'' Mr Khan said, adding besides night patrolling, the security agencies including police, army and para-military forces are also acting as watchdogs during the day-time.
However, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, K Rajendra Kumar yesterday in a meeting has directed all GOs to remain alert and vigilant to thwart any nefarious designs of anti-social and anti-national elements.
He directed that a frequent checking and search operations should be launched in the suspected areas to neutralize the dreaded militants operating inside the territory.
He said it was also the to remain extremely vigilant, in view of the forthcoming assembly elections in the state and Shri Amarnath Yatra-2008.
