Govt taking effective steps to control price rise: Dhumal
Shimla, May 14 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Government is sensitive towards the issue of price rise and was taking effective steps to control rising prices, a government spokesman today said.
A strict vigil was being kept over business establishments under Essential Commodities Act, 1955 to check profiteering, hoarding and black marketing, he said in a release here.
The spokesman said there was no shortage of foodgrains in any part of the state and added that prices were in control due to the timely action of the state government.
There was no shortage of wheat flour in the state and there were 9.33 lakh ration cardholders who were being provided whole mill flour at Rs 8 per kg every month as per their eligibility, he said.
He said sufficient quantity of wheat flour provided under PDS was available in the godowns in the state.
He further said the quota of wheat flour for June, 2008 had been allocated for each district and availability of the same has been ensured in the state.
The monthly quota of wheat flour from Central Government was coming regularly and State Government has demanded additional quota in order to check prices further, he added.
