Dehra Dun, May 14 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri has instructed the authorities working on the 480 MW Pala Maneri Hydroelectric project to ensure that it is completed on time.
The instructions were given at a meeting called to assess thorough preparations on the project in the Secretariat yesterday, a press release issued here stated.
He also proposed the involvement of locals to aid the success of the project and said a tunnel based scheme would be adopted to prevent the rehabilitation of villagers.
Technologies cutting down on noise and vibrations should be used, Mr Khanduri said, adding people living nearby the project site would be spared of discomfort.
Chairman of the Uttarakhand Hydroelectric Corporation Yogendra Prasad informed that work on the Rs 1922.80 crore 480 MW project would start in June 2008 and end in September 2011.
The first unit of the project would start producing electricity in December 2011, he added.
