Carrying of fire arms prohibited in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, May 14 (UNI) The Chandigarh District Magistrate has prohibited carrying of fire arms and lathis in the union territory till July 13 next.

The decision has been taken as small weapons openly tucked-in in the waist-belt for show of and intimidation and carrying of lathis and weapons by the licence holders could create panic in the public.

The order will into force with effect from the zero hour on May 15, 2008. Any breach of the order would be punishable under the provisions of Indian Penal Code.
