Calcutta HC stays OBC quotas in IIM

Kolkata, May 14: In a major jolt to the Centre"s attempt to implement OBC quota in educational institutes, the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday stayed its implementation in IIM-Calcutta.

The Calcutta HC order is applicable on the postgraduate courses of IIM-C. Following the stay, admissions at IIM-C have been withheld till further notice. This order has come in response to a plea filed by a few students of IIM-C against the implementation of OBC quota in Calcutta HC. Earlier, SC had left the implementation of quota in educational institutes up to the government.
