BSF official commit suicide, girl consume poison in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 14 (UNI) A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan hanged himself to death while a girl consumed poison in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

They said a BSF upper division jawan Mohan Lal committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling at Bandipora.

It was not however, immediately known why Lal took this extreme step.

There was no decline in trend as security forces engaged in counter insurgency operations continued to take extreme step even after the authorities introduced Yog and Art of Living to help them to come out of the stress.

Authorities believe family disputes are the main reasons for committing suicide among the security forces.

Sources said a 17-year-old girl Shiraza consumed some poisonous substance in her house at Bijbehara in south Kashmir. She was admitted to hospital in a critical condition.

Despite fatwa by the muslim ulmas against suicide, the number of such acts has not come down.
