Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, May 13 (UNI) Putting rest to all speculations over her return to the BJP, Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) president Uma Bharti today made it clear that it was a canard being spread by the BJP.
''I am fed up with this sort of false propaganda. I am pained at repeatedly being asked this question. I am not returning to the BJP,'' Ms Bharti told a press conference here.
Admitting that senior BJP leaders had attempted to coax her to return to the BJP and the RSS had also requested her in this regard, she said, ''After forming the BJ on April 28, 2006, I had never thought about returning to the BJP.'' Alleging that certain BJP leaders were constantly propagating about her return to the party, she said media should not be misled by this canard.
The fiery 'sanyasin' said the BJP should accept her existence like the Congress accepted Mr Sharad Pawar in Maharashtra.
She described the BJP winning in only four out of eight byelections held during its rule as shameful. On the other hand, the BJ managed 23 per cent votes.
Ms Bharti said she aimed at making the party most strong political power in north India.
Expressing concern over growing naxalism, she said naxalism would not had been able to spread in Bastar if former Bastar Maharaja Praveerchand Bhanjdev and Shankar Guha Niyogi had not been murdered.
