Traffic on Srinagar-Leh highway disrupted
Kargil, May 13 (UNI) Traffic on the 434-km long Srinagar-Leh National Highway was disrupted today for several hours after hundreds of people protested against the occupation of land by the Army.
The villagers of village Fravi, a km away from Drass, took to streets alleging that the Army had occupied their land near the headquarters of 56 Mountaineering Brigade.
The agitators blocked the highway and did not allow any vehicle to pass the area.
They said the Army had illegally occupied the land which was being used for the grazing of cattles.
Later they dispersed peacefully after the local civil and police administration assured them that the matter would be resolved within the next two days.
