RJD demands CBI inquiry into Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Scam

Patna, May 13 (UNI) RJD today demanded a through inquiry by the CBI into the misappropriation of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan fund released by the Centre to the Bihar government for improving the educational facilities in the state.

National General Secretary of the party Shyam Rajak told reporters here that despite the release of the fund by the Centre, no concrete step had been taken by the state government to improve the educational facilities in Bihar. He alleged that crores of rupees were siphoned off by the officers and others responsible for implementation of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

''Centre had released Rs 65 crores in the financial year 2006-07 and Rs 84 crores in 2007-08 for implementation of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan project in Bihar'', he said adding the fund was not spent properly by the Bihar government and the students of oppressed section of the society could not get benefit of the project.
