Govt sanctions 3757.12 crores for implementation of agro road map
Patna, May 13 (UNI) The Bihar government today declared 2008 as the''Agriculture year'' and sanctioned Rs 3757.12 crores to be spent in next four years for implementation of ''road map'' prepared by the state government to promote the agriculture sector in the state.
A decision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet in its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar this evening, said principal secretary of the cabinet co-ordination department Girish Shankar.
Mr Shankar said the cabinet also approved a proposal to give Rs 25 per quintal of wheat to the farmers of the state in addition to the minimum support price fixed by the Centre for procuring the same. A sum of Rs 17.50 crores was also sanctioned by the cabinet to meet the expenditure in this regard, he added.
He said the cabinet also gave its nod to appoint 11500 retired army jawans in Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) on contract basis for one year.
