Drug smuggler nabbed with smack

Kurukshetra, May 13 (UNI) Kurukshetra police nabbed a wanted inter-state drug smuggler from Jhinwarheri village about 15 km from here along with smack, police today said.

The accused, Tej Pratap, a resident of Salpani Kalan village here was arrested last night and the car being used by him for the smuggling was also seized along with 460 gm of smack, Inspector of the Special Investigation team (SIT) Mr Yashwant Yadav told reporters here.

Tej Pratap was evading arrest for the last one year after a case under the anti-narcotics Act was registered against him here.

He was nabbed last night after police acted on a tip off by an informer about the proposed visit of the smuggler to the area to sell smack in the nearby Punjab area.

The accused used to supply the contraband drugs in Patiala university, Chandigarh, Mohali and nearby places to the youths either studying or in service.

At least four criminal cases are already registered against him, out of which two are under investigation in Kurukshetra district.

Mr Yadav said that his father Mukhtiyar Singh of Salpani Kalan is already servicing jail term for 10 years for dealing with prohibited drugs.
